System Requirements
Find out what you need to support Vision in the links below.
Prerequisites:
School or district must be using G Suite for Education (GSFE) and class rosters must be available in one of the following applications: Google Classroom, Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, Schoology, Classlink or Clever.
Minimum Network Requirements
- Wired network: 100 Mbps or higher
- Wireless network: 802.11N or AC (802.11AC strongly recommended)
- One wireless access point per classroom
Minimum Teacher Computer Requirements
- For Chromebooks
- ChromeOS Version 71 or higher
- Processor: 1Ghz or higher
- Memory: 2GB RAM
- Internal storage: 150 MB available hard disk space
- For Windows
- Windows version 7, 8 or 10
- Processor: 2 Ghz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- Memory: 2GB RAM
- Internal storage: 150 MB available hard disk space
- For Mac
- Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later
- Processor: PowerPC 7400
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Internal storage: 150 MB available hard disk space
Minimum Student Chromebook Requirements
- ChromeOS Version 71 or higher
- Processor: 1 Ghz or higher
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Internal Storage: 150 MB available hard disk space
Items to consider
- Mount the wireless access point according to manufacturer’s instructions
- Fine tune the wireless network, giving preference to multicast and broadcast traffic
- Have teacher computer hardwired if possible
Vision 365 Specific Requirements:
- Devices must have internet connectivity at all times
- Operating System – Windows 10 version 1809 or later is required. We recommend the operating systems have the latest service pack from Microsoft installed.
- Office 365 accounts, Edlink accounts, or G Suite for Education accounts for students and teachers.
- Class rosters in one of the following systems: Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas, Classlink, Google Classroom, Moodle, Teams, or Schoology.
Minimum Network Requirements:
- Wired Network – 100 Mbps or higher recommended
- Wireless Network – 802.11n recommended
- No filtering of multicast (IGMP) or broadcast UDP or TCP packets
- Vision traffic must not pass through more than four Internet working devices (four hops) which should be rated for 10 Mbps or higher
Teacher Windows Computer:
- Operating System – Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, and 10. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported. We recommend the operating systems have the latest service pack from Microsoft installed.
Note: There are some feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode - Processor – 2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- Memory – 2 GB RAM
- Hard Disk – 150 MB available hard-disk space
- Video Display – Any 100% VGA compatible graphics adapter supported by Windows
Student Windows Computer:
- Operating System – Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, and 10. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported. We recommend the operating systems have the latest service pack from Microsoft installed.
Note: There are some feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode
Teacher Tablet or Smart Device (Windows Teacher module required):
- Tablet or other Smart Device – Using Vision@Hand, Teachers can connect any web-enabled device with a browser to their PC over the local area network, and access key features of Vision Pro from anywhere in the classroom. Requires the installation of Vision@Hand which is available at no charge. Works with Windows teacher module only
Browsers (Teacher and Student):
- The web-blocking feature works regardless of the browser and version (Windows and Mac). For a list of browsers supporting the web-filter function, see our knowledge base.
Feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode:
The complete feature set of Vision is supported for Universal Applications in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, with exception to several known issues regarding Metro/Universal apps.
Kiosk mode for Metro/Universal Applications
Teachers are not able to kiosk Metro/Universal applications on student computers running Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. All other applications can be locked into.
Filter Web for Metro/Universal browsers
Teachers are not able to filter web for universal application browsers (ex. Edge or Metro IE); these will be blocked instead.
Chat (Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 in Metro mode only)
If the student module running on a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 computer is in Metro mode when the teacher starts up a chat conversation the student will not see the message from the teacher until the student switches to desktop mode.

Teacher Mac Computer:
- Operating System – Mac OS X version 10.10 Yosemite or later.
- The Vision teacher module for Mac supports Mac student computers only
Student Mac Computer:
- Operating System – Mac OS X version 10.10 Yosemite or later.
Student Tablets and Smart Devices (with Mac Teacher module):
- Any student device that has a browser can access the web based assessment tool Learning Center included with Vision Pro.
Vision Pro (version 8.2 and later) supports environments utilizing Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Terminal Services).
Vision runs on the following server versions:
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2012 RC
- Windows Server 2012 R2
