Netop PrintLimit Pro Transition
Important notice for Netop PrintLimit Pro customers
Netop has decided to transition our PrintLimit Pro business to PaperCut Software International, effective January 1, 2012. This is a very positive transition for you as a PrintLimit Pro customer because PaperCut is the original developer of the product, allowing them to seamlessly and effectively continue supporting your print management needs.
For the past several years, Netop and PaperCut have enjoyed a partnership whereby the PaperCut print management product was rebranded and sold by Netop as PrintLimit and then PrintLimit Pro. While the PrintLimit Pro product remains an excellent print management tool, it is time for Netop to narrow our education product focus to continue offering the best classroom management products and services today, and far into the future.
The content below provides detailed information about how this transition will take place and what impact it will have on you, as a PrintLimit Pro customer.
When? The transition is effective January 1, 2012. Netop will no longer accept orders for PrintLimit Pro licenses, renewals or upgrades as of this date. We will also transition support of all PrintLimit Pro customers to PaperCut, the developer of the software, on January 1. PaperCut will honor all Netop Advantage annual support and upgrade program agreements that are current on December 31, 2011, when this transition takes place.
Who is PaperCut? PaperCut Software is the developer of Papercut, on which PrintLimit Pro is based and has been delivering their print solutions since 1999. PaperCut Software's application now manages printing and copier use in tens of thousands of organizations in more than 100 countries worldwide.
In 2005, PaperCut and GenevaLogic entered into an OEM agreement whereby GenevaLogic would private label the PaperCut print control application under the brand PrintLimit and then PrintLimit Pro. GenevaLogic was acquired by Netop in 2008.
PaperCut Software is based in Melbourne, Australia, with support offices in the US and UK, and sells and supports its products directly and through resellers in over 100 countries worldwide. You can learn more about PaperCut by going to their website at www.PaperCut.com.
How will this transition affect PrintLimit Pro customers? PrintLimit Pro customers will see very little change initially. Your PrintLimit Pro software will continue to work as before, however support of the software will be transitioned to the PaperCut support team. The terms of all active Netop Advantage support and upgrade protection agreements will be honored in full by PaperCut Software. Future releases of the PrintLimit Pro software will be provided under the PaperCut brand. Migration from PrintLimit Pro to PaperCut NG will not result in a data loss. All PrintLimit Pro print data, settings and configurations will be safe.
As the developer of the software, PaperCut will provide more rapid and frequent upgrades, knowledgeable technical support and access to additional features (such as payment gateways and integration with copy machines) that were not available in PrintLimit Pro.
Customers will be provided with information on how to download the latest versions (PaperCut), and how to convert from PrintLimit Pro to PaperCut when they wish to upgrade to a newer version.

What happens to PrintLimit Pro? On January 1, 2012, PrintLimit Pro will cease to be a product offered or supported by Netop. It is a hard cutoff date. Customers who own PrintLimit Pro can continue to use it due to the perpetual nature of the license. Customers who have an active Netop Advantage program in place will receive future upgrades by PaperCut under the PaperCut brand during the remaining term of their agreement. The functionality of the PaperCut and Netop products are identical; only the branding was changed.
