The links on this page allow you to download the recent versions of Netop Protect-On2 as well as support resources including release notes and modification notes. User manuals are included in the software download files. The labels on the links indicate the language of the software interface and manuals, as well as the software language versions with documentation in English.
 

ProtectOn2 Discontinued

ProtectOn2 was discontinued as a product effective August 31, 2009, and has been replaced by Netop ProtectOn Pro. Per Netop's policy, this means: 

  • Customers with valid Netop Upgrade Insurance (NUI) policies may upgrade to Netop ProtectOn Pro at no charge.
  • Customers without a valid NUI policy may purchase an upgrade to Netop ProtectOn Pro.
  • New licenses of ProtectOn2 can no longer be purchased.
  • Additions to existing ProtectOn2 licenses can no longer be purchased.
  • Netop Upgrade Insurance for ProtectOn2 can no longer be purchased or renewed.
  • Technical support continues to be available for customers with valid existing NUI agreements through the period of the agreement.
  • The source code is frozen and will not be recompiled again.
  • Existing customers may continue to download copies of Netop ProtectOn2 from this Web site until the product is terminated.
  • Knowledge Base articles may still be accessed from this Web site, but will not be updated.
  • The product will be terminated effective August 31, 2010.

How to Download & Install Protect-On2 for Windows

Existing customers may continue to download and install ProtectOn2 using the following steps. New customers should download ProtectOn Pro.

Step 1: Download Protect-On2 Windows

  • Click on the link at the bottom of this page, and save the file to a location on your computer or network. You might want to download or print the User Guide, as well.

Step 2: Install

  • Run the "ProtectON2_Installer_Files_US_EN.exe" file.
  • During the installation, you will have the chance to choose which components of Protect-On to install. The default is to install Protect-On2 Client (the actual Protect-On software) and Protect-On2 Administrator (to enable remote control). This module allows you to manage Protect-On2 clients over a network.

Step 3 : Repeat

  • Save the installation file you downloaded to a network drive or a CD or other removable medium, so that you can install it on the student computers. Repeat the installation on all of the PCs you are licensed to protect.

MSI Installation

This installer will allow you to install using an MSI-compliant remote deployment tool.
