Technical Specifications

The Netop Learning Center is available as a software-as-a-service solution hosted by Netop for your organization, which is the approach most of our customers choose. You may also host the Netop Learning Center on your own organization's server infrastructure. The following technical specifications are for the self-hosted solution.

This table shows hardware requirements for installing NETOP LEARNING CENTER on a single server installation. You can also split the solution on the multiple servers according to the IT infrastructure described in the Netop Learning Center architecture overview.

Min. 1x Intel P4, Xeon or compatible processors, 2 GHz or higher. (Xeon 2GHz or higher is recommended)

RAM Memory

1gb MB minimum (2GB or more is recommended)

Additional memory may be required, depending on operating system requirements.

18GB (72gb is recommended)

 Software Requirements 

Operating System

  • Windows 2000 Server (any edition) or Windows 2003 Server (any edition), Windows 2003 Servers is recommended and required for full functionality. Windows Components required:

    • Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0

      • NLC recommends to use compression on the IIS like Gzip
    • SMTP server (Optional, can be separated)

    • ASP.NET Framework v. 2

    • Windows Media Services (Optional, recommended)

    • Microsoft Active Directory (Optional, only if AD integration is configured and no other AD is available in the organization)

Installed Applications

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 w. sp 3 or Microsoft SQL Server 2005, used by the Netop Learning Center  Database

  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (add-on) – used by the Netop Learning Center Reporting services, can be downloaded free of charge from www.microsoft.com.

  • Microsoft Office 2003 professional – Complete Install (View setting security settings below) – Used to perform conversions and creation of Office documents.

  • Microsoft Windows Media Encoder v. 9, used to encode uploaded video and audio files.
