Netop ProtectOn Pro Technical Specifications and IT Requirements

Netop ProtectOn Pro is a server based solution offering comprehensive endpoint protection for Windows networked computers. The software consists of three modules: a server module, one or more administrative console modules, and an unlimited number of agent modules. The Netop ProtectOn Pro server module requires that you have one of several Microsoft SQL Server editions installed, and comes packaged with SQL Server Compact edition. The server and console modules also require Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0, which is commonly available on newer Windows operating systems.

Q. Does Netop ProtectOn Pro work with Windows 7?

A. Yes, with version 1.1 Netop added support for the Microsoft Windows 7 platform. Support versions of Windows 7 include Starter, Home, Premium, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise (32-bit and 64-bit editions.)

Q. Does Netop ProtectOn Pro work on Novell networks?

A. Yes, ProtectOn Pro should work on any TCP/IP network.

Q. Does Netop ProtectOn Pro support Mac or Linux operating systems?

A. No, not at this time.

Q. Are hard disk protection and access policies still enforced when an agent computer is disconnected from the network?

A. Yes, all policies are enforced as long as the agent module is running on the client computers, regardless of whether it is connected to the network.

 
Q. Can I protect the computer that I use as my administrative console?

A. Yes, the agent module may be installed on the same computer as the console module, making it possible to protect that computer as well.

Q. Can I install multiple administrative consoles on my network?

A. Yes, you may install and use multiple administrative consoles.

Q. How are the software modules priced and licensed?

A. When you purchase Netop ProtectOn Pro you will receive one serial number that will activate the server, console and agent modules. Pricing is based on the number of agent modules in your network. There is no additional charge for the server or console modules.

Q. Is there a limit on the number of agents that can be supported?

A. No, it is solely dependent on the number of agents you purchase.

Q. Do I need to purchase Microsoft SQL Server in order to use Netop ProtectOn Pro?

A. No, Netop ProtectOn Pro comes with Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition which should be sufficient for testing and for basic installations. However, if you have a large installation you may find that you prefer the performance and additional features (such as backup capabilities) provided with a more full featured edition of SQL Server.
