NetOp Tech Launches New Version of NetOp School with Increased Control of Student Internet Use
New Version Allows for Safer Student Internet Use By Blocking All Browsers and Preventing Access to Selected Internet Sites
Chicago – February 19, 2008 – NetOp Tech Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Danish IT company, Danware A/S, launched today in the United States NetOp School 5.5 its latest software package for teaching in networked classrooms. NetOp School 5.5.provides teachers with greater flexibility and makes it easier to oversee student use of the Internet in the classroom.
Earlier versions of NetOp School allowed teachers to block the Internet on Microsoft Internet Explorer. With the latest version of the software the Internet can be selectively blocked on all browsers giving teachers greater control and insuring that students have a safe Internet experience and remain on task.
“Students today are experienced users of the Internet and it is tempting for them to explore cyberspace while in the classroom,” said Tonya Hottmann, head of marketing for the Americas for NetOp Tech. “NetOp School 5.5 gives teachers the tool they need to keep today’s students on task and away from inappropriate Internet content.”
NetOp School 5.5 has a number of new features that give teachers greater flexibility. They include:
• The transfer of audio, images and video between teacher and student computers.
• Giving teachers the ability to use a USB memory stick to prepare assignments and tests at home and transfer them to the classroom without downloading software.
• A new import module making it easier for teachers to import selected prepared assignments to use on the teacher module.
• The ability, in combination with an interactive whiteboard, to allow students to actively work together on each other’s assignments for a more interactive learning process.
“Schools make an important investment in computers and technology and NetOp School allows them to maximize that investment,” said Hottmann. “This software gives teachers much greater flexibility and enhances classroom computer learning.”
NetOp School can be used in a wired or wireless environment and allows for the best wireless experience by offering Multicast as a selection in the communications profile.
NetOp School 5.5 supports all Microsoft Windows platforms, including Vista.
