NetOp Remote Control
Q After rebooting the pc, the screen is black. Connection is ok so what is wrong?A Check netop.ini and see if the host section has NODRIVER=1. If this line is there, reinstall NetOp, before you reboot, remove this line from netop.ini and the problem should not reappear.
Q Why doesn't the Host screen turn black when the Guest sends the command?
A Insert the line "blankctrl=28" into netop.ini, under host section.
A In the NetOp.Ini you must have coexist=2 (see http://help.netop.com/support/other/netop_ini_pub_settings.htm) and you must use another Communication Profile than the Host use. (Manual 5.6)
Q Multiple network-adaptors and IP-Addresses and can not connect to the Host.
A NRC will as default use adaptor 0 as outgoing network interface unless something is specified in the settings. With more adaptors, there is a risk of the Host using 2 different adaptors for incoming and outgoing connections.
Go to the "advanced" settings for "tcp/ip" communication profile. Remove the check mark from "use any available IP-Address" and type the IP-Address you wish to use as outgoing network-adaptor. Otherwise you have to switch the adaptors around so adaptor 0 is used (this can be required if the IP-Address is DHCP assigned and changes from time to time. (School, Advanced user manual. 6.1.3.2.2)
Q Host screen flickers when Guest enter monitor-mode, so host is aware that host guest is monitoring
A In the netop.ini file on host, in the host section of the ini-file set repaint=0. In connection properties "optimize screen transfer" under desktop most be set to "never". (Manual 5.6)
Q How can I see multiple Host monitors on a one screen Guest?
A On the Guest - choose connection properties and check that there is marked in the "Transfer host screen as commands". Then it will show multiple monitor on the Hosts site as one screen where you can scroll to each monitor. (Manual 3.8.1.7)
Q Sometimes the guest have black screen on connection to host, sometimes not. How come?
A The most likely reason is MS remote desktop. If remote desktop has been used on the host pc, all other remote control software will get a black screen. PC must reboot to install hook-driver again.
NetOp School
Q Student can not connect to the class. What is wrong?
A Student has most likely connection password enabled, and teacher does not have this defined in class setup. Status line in the bottom of the teacher- desktop will show status "one or more wrong student passwords". Student most disable password or teacher most add it to the student profile. (Manual 5.5.3)
Q How do I make a setup.iss file for use in deployment?
A Start Stdeploy.exe (The file that needs to be deployed can be uk.exe/setup.exe) zip-files can not be deployed. Run the0 wizard, the constructed iss-fil can then be edited with notepad or some such program, and used as deployment template for further deployments. (Manual 2.1.3)
Q With existing setup.iss
A Start Stdeploy.exe and check the mark in "advanced installation from custom setup.iss files". This will start deployment from a setup-file. (Manual 2.1.3)
Q Deployment fails, teacher can not deploy student to other pc's.
A Stdeploy uses windows file and printer sharing to push files to student pc's, so this must be enabled on student pc's, just as teacher must have admin-right on the student pc. Try to connect to the student pc via windows, to see if teacher has these rights. (Manual 2.1.3)
Q What is lesson-plan for?
A Lesson-plan is a good tool to maintain control with the study-plan. When the lesson-plan is made, all the various parts defined, the teacher can start the different sections during the class with a single keystroke, skip sections or repeat sections if needed. (Manual 3.1.11)
Q Teacher/Student logs on from multiple PC and/or locations
A Use "login as". This will give you access to the menu where login-variables can be defined. This can be used to define a user on a different location or different PC, so student and teacher will keep there profile name regardless of where they are logged on from. (Advanced user manual 4.4)
Q Students with multiple screens gets the demonstration from teacher shown divided on 2 screens
A Teacher most choose a "specific monitor" for demonstration, then it will only be shown on one screen.
Q Student screen flickers when teacher enter monitor-mode, so student is aware that teacher guest is monitoring.
A In the netop.ini file on host, in the student section of the ini-file set repaint=0. In connection properties "optimize screen transfer" under desktop most be set to "never". (Manual 5.6)
Q Others can not see recordings
A Teacher must make the recordings in .avi-format, not .nwr-format witch is NetOp's own format. AVI can be seen by other programs besides NetOp, and will often be more useful than .nwr (Manual 3.1.5, 5.1.10, 5.4.2.4)
Q Test score reading
A Weight is the percentage of the total test, which is determined by this question. Passed is the percentage of the question that has to answer correctly for the total question to be passed. Both can be adjusted by "pulling" the lines in the visual presentation. (Manual 3.3.5)
Q Teacher can not see dongle
A Install driver manually - when dongle has constant red light it should work.
Q Students receives and transmits 2 similar packets on the network
A Teacher should connect to the wireless router/switch with cable, if not teacher-pc and router will send the same packet, and student will receive and reply to both.
Q Teacher can only see 50 students, but customer has more than 50 licenses
A Edit netop.ini. There is a line under the teacher section max_students=50. Change 50 to the required number.
Misc.
Q Courses vs. class room
A In class manager it is called courses; under school it is called class-room.
Q It is not possible to deploy via the Internet even though TCP/IP is set as communication profile.
A You can not deploy via WAN, regardless of settings. Deploy uses windows file/print sharing, and that is only possible on a local network. The local administrator must log on to the remote PC in some other way and start the deployment process locally. (NRC Administrators manual 5.3.5)
Q Problem with connection to multiple Hosts behind a NetOp Gateway
A Gateway/router must have multiple NAT entries with different incoming port-numbers. Out going must still be the default 6502 but every host must have its own incoming. Example: host 1 6502/6503, host 2 6502/6504 etc. The NetOp Guest then have to use gateway.danware.dk:6503, gateway.danware.dk:6504 (where gateway.danware.dk is replaced with the correct name) (Administrators manual 3.3)
Q How to set up a simple NetOp connection, like ADSL to ADSL?
A We have made a simple network drawing to use as a guideline. This is intended as a help to visualize the concepts in the manual, not as a replacement to the manual. See also Setup Guide 1
Q How do I connect to my workplace from home or to home from my workplace?
A We have made a drawing of the most common setup in witch NetOp Remote Control is used. This is intended as a help to visualize the concepts in the manual, not as a replacement to the manual. See also Setup Guide 2
