NetOp® support for Microsoft Vista®
Danware’s multi-platform strategy enables our customers to leverage fully their system investments and benefit from functional integration across different operating system platforms. We are therefore excited about the business opportunities that Microsoft Vista brings to the Danware NetOp® ecology; our partners and customers.
Danware shall introduce support for Microsoft Vista in our NetOp product line during the first quarter of 2008.
In this timeframe, we plan to add Vista support to all of our new product versions – e.g. NetOp School 5.5 and NetOp Remote Control 9.1. If you have a valid NetOp Upgrade Insurance, you are entitled to receive the new versions for free. All future versions will have Vista support.
Danware is a Microsoft Gold Certified ISV Partner, and per our strong commitment to the Microsoft computing environment, we shall continue to support Microsoft’s desktop, mobile and server platform offerings in the future. As we have done in the past.
Current NetOp® support for Microsoft Vista®
The current versions of the NetOp® Products are not specifically optimized for Vista, but even then most functionality works.
However, there are certain issues to take into consideration when using NetOp Remote Control and NetOp School. The most important issues are listed below:
General start-up:
The Student or Host modules do not start automatically with Windows. They must be added to the Startup folder manually, which will make them run after logon.
Elevate user rights:
Some changes to the Vista systems require additional rights. The logged on user is prompted for accept to continue the process. This prompt screen cannot be remotely controlled.
This prompting process can be on the Vista Student/Host side, but do this with caution. More details at: http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/user_account_control.htm#Latest_Method_for_Vista_-_Local_Policy
Performance
To optimize the speed of the connection when sharing screens during a demonstration or a remote control, the Vista OS should run Windows Classic theme.
