System Requirements

The classroom management software Netop Vision works with different operating systems including Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, iOS and others, and is designed to work well in both wired and wireless classroom environments.

  • System Requirements for Windows

    Minimum Network Requirements:

    • Wired Network - 10 Mbps full duplex; 100 Mbps or higher recommended
    • Wireless Network - 802.11b; 802.11g recommended
    • No filtering of multicast (IGMP) or broadcast UDP or TCP packets
    • Vision traffic must not pass through more than four Internet working devices (four hops) that are 10 Mbps or higher

     

    Teacher Windows Computer:

    • Operating System - Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, and 10. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported. Note that the operating system must have the latest service pack from Microsoft installed.
      Note: There are some feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode
    • Processor - 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    • Memory - 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    • Hard Disk - 150MB available hard-disk space
    • Video Display - Any 100% VGA compatible graphics adapter supported by Windows

     

    Teacher Windows Computer:

    • Operating System - Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, and 10. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported. Note that the operating system must have the latest service pack from Microsoft installed.
      Note: There are some feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode

     

    Teacher Tablet or Smart Device (Windows Teacher module required):

    • iPad or other iOS Device - Using Vision Mobile, teachers can connect their iPad to their PC over the local area network, and use the full functionality of Vision Pro from anywhere in the classroom. Requires the installation of Vision Mobile which is available at no charge with Vision Pro. Works with Windows teacher module only
    • Android Tablet or other Smart Device – Using Vision@Hand, Teachers can connect any web-enabled device with a browser to their PC over the local area network, and access key features of Vision Pro from anywhere in the classroom. Requires the installation of Vision@Hand which is available at no charge. Works with Windows teacher module only

     

    Student Tablets and Smart Devices (with Windows Teacher module): 

    • Any student device that has an operating system and browser that can connect to an IP address over a wireless network can be used with Vision’s browser based screen sharing features to see teacher demonstrations, and access all of the Vision Pro Learning Center web-based assessment tools . Examples include: iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android devices, Chromebooks, Windows PCs, Macs, Linux computers. Works with Windows teacher module only
    • Any student device that has a browser can access the web based assessment tool Learning Center included with Vision Pro.
    • Also available are Vision Student apps for iPad and Android tablets, which allow students to easily join a Vision classroom and view the teachers’ computer screen on their device. Available for free from the iTunes App Store and from Google Play. Works with Windows teacher module only.

     

    Browsers (Teacher and Student):

    • The web-blocking feature works regardless of the browser and version (Windows and Mac). For a list of browsers supporting the web-filter function, see our knowledge base.

    Feature limitations affecting computers running on Universal Windows Platform / Metro mode:

    The complete feature set of Vision is supported for Universal Applications in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, with exception to several known issues regarding Metro/Universal apps.

    Kiosk mode for Metro/Universal Applications

    Teachers are not able to kiosk Metro/Universal applications on student computers running Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. All other applications can be locked into.

    Filter Web for Metro/Universal browsers

    Teachers are not able to filter web for universal application browsers (ex. Edge or Metro IE); these will be blocked instead.

    Chat (Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 in Metro mode only)

    If the student module running on a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 computer is in Metro mode when the teacher starts up a chat conversation the student will not see the message from the teacher until the student switches to desktop mode.

     

     

     

  • System Requirements for macOS

    Minimum Network Requirements:

    • Operating System - Mac OS X version 10.10 Yosemite or later. 
    • The Vision teacher module for Mac supports Mac student computers only 

     

    Student Mac Computer:

    • Operating System - Mac OS X version 10.10 Yosemite or later. 


    Student Tablets and Smart Devices (with Mac Teacher module): 

    • Any student device that has a browser can access the web based assessment tool Learning Center included with Vision Pro.

     

  • System Requirements for Chrome OS (Chromebooks)

    Vision for Chromebooks is the classroom management app for teaching in a Chromebook classroom.

     

    Prerequisites:

    School or district must be using G Suite for Education (formerly Google Apps for Education / GAFE) and Google Classrooms.

     

    Networks:

    • Student and teacher devices must share the same external IP address or class of addresses

     

    Teacher:

    • For Chromebooks – the latest version of Chrome OS
    • For other devices – the latest full version of Chrome browser, capable of loading browsing apps and extensions

     

    Student Chromebook:

    • The latest version of Chrome OS


     

  • System Requirements for iOS (iPad)

    Vision ME is the workflow management app for teaching in an iPad classroom.

    Components:

    The Vision ME solution comprises the following components: 

    • Two iPad apps that can be downloaded from Apple App Store, one for the teacher (Vision ME Teacher) and one for students (Vision ME Student).
    • Learning Center which schools must use to create their accounts and register all iPad users (students, teacher and administrators) as well as their classes.
    • Vision MDM which is the Mobile Device Management server component that schools must use to enroll and register their iPad devices. Mobile Device Management (MDM):

      • For full functionality, a Mobile Device Management (MDM) certificate is required.

    • Without a MDM certificate Vision ME will have following reduced functionality:

      • Web locking will not function
      • Students will see the attention screen only within the Vision ME app, and can remove it by pushing the home button.

    Teacher iPad:

    • Operating System – Vision ME teacher app runs on iOS 7 and higher.

     

    Student iPad:

    Operating System – Vision ME student app runs on iOS 7 and higher.

  • Support for Microsoft Remote Desktop Services

    Vision Pro (version 8.2 and later) supports environments utilizing Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Terminal Services).

    Vision runs on the following server versions:

    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows Server 2012 RC
    • Windows Server 2012 R2
