History
Netop, formerly known as Danware A/S, has its roots in Danware Data A/S, who began business in 1981. In the early 1980's Danware Data was housed in humble surroundings, but the company achieved early recognition with fault-tolerant systems for equities trading. Space was cramped – indeed, so much so that the servers used for product development were hidden away under the kitchen sink! As a result, every time there was a problem with one of the programs, someone had to visit the kitchen and reboot the server. After one too many such trips, a weary programmer decided to solve the problem and developed a program that let him view the server screen and reboot it without leaving his workstation. And that’s how Netop as we know it today was born.
The company continue to grow and expand from those modest beginnings and was introduced on the stock market in 2001.
In the summer of 2008, Netop A/S acquired the Switzerland-based software company GenevaLogic. With this acquisition Netop consolidated its position as the world's leading provider of classroom management software. In addition, that summer Netop Netop introduced its third business area, Communication, that today has the product Live Guide as its primary solution.
